In 1990 Lashawn Taylor was sentenced to 99yrs to life. He would serve 31yrs in state prison. Fifteen (15) of those years would be served in solitary confinement at Pelican Bay’s infamous. "Security Housing Unit" (S.H.U.), for alleged prison gang membership.
Lashawn was released back into general population in 2015 as a result of the historic hunger strike .Lashawn began to immerse himself in rehabilitative programming like Insight Gardening Program(IGP), Anger Management, N/A, Victims Impact, Life Coaching, Criminal Gangs Anonymous (CGA) and many others. In 2017 he appeared before the BPH(Board of Parole Hearings)for the first time under California's -at the time- newly passed youth offender laws (AB 260/261). Lashawn would receive a 5yr Parole Denial, but as a result of this denial he would delve even further into rehabilitative programming and higher education. Lashawn went from participating in self help classes to teaching them. He quickly earned his GED and enrolled in college. Lashawn is currently pursuing degrees in Social Behavioral Science, Business and Liberal Arts.
Lashawn has developed extensive relationships and contacts within the re-entry, rehabilitative formerly and currently incarcerated communities with individuals and organizations.
He has always wanted to help those without voices and the almost forgotten people; the prison population. So, LaShawn decided to start Linear Consulting and Support Services as a means to strengthen the lives of those in prison who were seeking self help and/or to be granted parole by the BPH.
